The many barometers produced over time by each manufacturer have a noticeable difference in the calibrations on the thermometer scale. With the modern capillary tubing,the replacement thermometer having a slightly different size bore, we have to compensate a little of the full range to make the thermometer appearance match the cut outs in some of the old scales.
